I planned to get into model railroading for a while, and finally made the step 🤘

I ordered a PIKO Sm31 PKP, a fully assembled EX-CommandStation (I don’t like vendor lock-in) and started building my shelf layout in the now finished holiday. The basic track layout is more or less directly taken from the Polokwane Brewery in Polokwane (ZA), while the rest of the layout is inspired by the Tychy Brewery in Tychy (PL). Since the locomotive I bought is from the communist Poland era (IV, 1970-1990), the layout will resemble that time as well.

So far, I bought the following kits (with a number so you can see where it goes on the layout):

The other buildings are still to be bought. (2) will be the main production building, (4) two more fermentation tanks, and (5) two industrial chimneys.

Due to the lack of space in my apartment, I decided to create a shelf layout measuring 2×0,5m. This means that I won’t be able to create a closed loop, but rather will be driving back and forth on my layout. This will be done in another project—given that a stay in a larger flat that time.
